Joanna Bursch

Joanna Bursch

Director

Joanna Bursch and her husband moved to Greenville, SC from Minnesota in 2003. Since schooling started for their first child in 2011, Joanna has been educating all three of their children at home. Jason and Joanna live in Travelers Rest and love being so near the mountains. Joanna is the Director of Meadowlark and oversees general operations. She also teaches the Collective time at the beginning of our school days. A founding Board Member for Meadowlark Collective, Joanna has been so excited to see the vision of Meadowlark take shape into real classes and students.

Hilary Forrest

Board Member

Hilary Forrest has lived in the Travelers Rest area since 2003 after teaching art in Hawaii and Saipan. She has four children (two boys and two girls), three of whom have become a part of the family through adoption. She counts it a great joy to educate her children with the True, the Good and the Beautiful. When the idea came to begin Meadowlark Collective, she was excited to go back to her roots of teaching art and expand her teaching beyond the home.

Judy Kay Kyker

Judy Kay Kyker

Board Member

Judy Kay Kyker is a wife to Jimmy, and mom to six kids. Five of those kids are boys, so there is no shortage of adventure (or noise!) in her life. A favorite family leisure activity is hiking; they’ve explored trails close to their home near the Blue Ridge Mountains, through the Rocky Mountains, and down in marshy Florida, and gummy bears are the motivating treat of choice. Judy Kay began homeschooling fifteen years ago when her oldest was three and she gave him a phonics curriculum for Christmas. He has since forgiven her, and she has grown to be so grateful for a more peaceful lifestyle of learning that allows her to pursue truth and goodness and beauty right alongside her children. She is honored to be a part of the Board of Meadowlark Collective, and hopes that it will be a place where children delight in learning, sharing ideas, and growing in wisdom together.

Lacey Keigley

Lacey Keigley

Board Member

Lacey Keigley is originally from Virginia but has lived in the Upstate for more than a decade.  A former high school English and theatre teacher, Lacey started homeschooling the first of her six children fifteen years ago.  She has experimented with a wide variety of curriculum ideas over the years but through reading and good old fashioned trial and error, found the gentle art of learning through Charlotte Mason to be the ideal fit for her family.  The idea of a local collective to offer a different vein of education took root in a lovely way through Meadowlark and Lacey is honored to be a part of the founding board members.
